Low Impact for High Impact

Low Impact for High Impact is a monthly virtual workshop focusing on a variety of physical practices. 100% of proceeds from this donation-based workshop go to support organizations with a primary focus of supporting BIPOC communities. The workshops are suitable for any age and any physical practice level.

Constructive Rest (October 2nd, 7 PM)

Constructive rest is a practice of support and renewal. It works to release tension in the neuromuscular system, restoring balance and ease throughout the body. In this session, we will return to sensorial landscapes. Practicing together, we will cultivate community and care.

Storytelling Through Improvisation (November 2nd, 7 PM)

Join us for a virtual improvisation session where we will utilize words and scenarios to create meaningful movement. The class will include observation, discussion and reflection, so bring a pen and paper or device to take notes just in case! Proceeds from this class will support Whatsinthemirror?, a 501c3 non-profit organization and social movement that provides suicide prevention and mental health awareness through art and advocacy to people of color and low socio-economic communities.

Vinyasa Style Yoga (December 2nd, 7 PM)

Join resident Dance Waterloo yogi, Laura Merkel, for a 45 minute long vinyasa-style yoga class. Together, we’ll mindfully move through all of the body’s ranges of motion in this low-impact, full-body workout. Walk out of class feeling longer, stronger, and centered! This class is adaptable for all ages, levels, and abilities. All you’ll need is a water bottle and a yoga mat or a clear area of your floor to move on.
